Jasmax clocked up over 8,300 km on our bikes this February, competing in a month-long bike challenge organised by Auckland Transport and the New Zealand Transport Agency.

The Aotearoa Bike Challenge encourages participation, with workplaces collecting points for distance, the most staff getting on their bikes and the most encouragers in the workplace! The idea is to encourage people to discover how easy and enjoyable riding a bike can be. All it takes for people to participate is enrolling and riding a bike for 10 minutes or more.

Nationwide there were 1,944 organisations and 22,066 participants who took part, including 4,786 new riders. In total they put 3,765,983km on their bikes – that's more than 93 times around the world!

In our Auckland office, we had 53 people register and ride their bike at least once, with 13 of them new participants this year.

We love to get behind the challenge and hope this encourages staff to keep riding. Our office’s end of ride facilities are set to get an upgrade in the next little while, to support staff to get on their bikes!

We came first in the Auckland Bike Challenge and 8th nationwide. A special mention to Elsa Benjamin who took out the title of top encourager overall.

Well done to all involved and we’re looking forward to next year’s challenge!
