As a popular holiday spot for Kiwis, Mount Maunganui; located north east of Tauranga, is seeing local and international tourism numbers grow year on year.
Looking to the future, the City Council has received approval for a proposal to build a new information centre and i-port to cater for projected continued visitor growth.
The Jasmax design will provide a combined-use information centre for both public and cruise passengers, and will tell the story of the rich history of The Bay, ensuring visitors come away with a cultural understanding of the area.
The new centre will replace the temporary wharf-side information and booking centre; i-port, currently housed in converted shipping containers.
