Onno le Roy, an international architect with a significant healthcare background, has been appointed to Jasmax as a health planner and senior architect.

Le Roy has had over 25 years of experience working in healthcare design. He brings a wealth of international experience, having worked in practices in Belgium, Qatar, Singapore, Sydney and most recently the UAE. Recent projects include the Mediclinic Al Noor Hospital in Abu Dhabi (UAE) and the Aga Khan University Hospital in Kampala (Uganda). Onno’s appointment strengthens Jasmax busy health studio. His involvement in some of the world’s largest healthcare projects will allow him to add some international flavour to New Zealand’s projects, particularly to the way masterplanning is executed.

He joins Jasmax’s growing health design studio which includes health planner Anne Moon, a registered nurse with a background in both patient care and hospital operations management.

Prior to joining Jasmax in 2017, Moon held senior nursing and operational management roles in Intensive Care, Emergency Department, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology and ORL (Otorhinolaryngology or Ear Nose and Throat). In her most recent role, she was an operational project manager with Waitemata DHB.

The combined health planning skills of le Roy and Moon add ability to Jasmax’s design team to understand the complexity of healthcare operations.

“I am excited about being part of the Jasmax healthcare studio. Jasmax’s multi-disciplinary teams ensure a holistic and in-depth approach. I am also excited to be working alongside Anne Moon. Although we are both healthplanners, her clinical background and my architectural background will complement each other, ensuring we provide our client with the best possible service and nothing gets lost in translation when consulting the clinical users.”

Euan Mac Kellar, healthcare practice group leader and principal, says, “Globally we’re seeing new hospital developments set new benchmarks in environmental sustainability and evidence-based design. Given New Zealand’s significant pipeline of healthcare projects, the more international learning we can add, the stronger the design outcomes we can generate for our clients.”

Jasmax is an experienced designer of health facilities, delivering projects such as the $126 m University of Otago Dental School (currently under construction), Burwood Hospital and Auckland Eye Clinic.

“I am excited about being part of the Jasmax healthcare studio. Jasmax’s multi-disciplinary teams ensure a holistic and in-depth approach. I am also excited to be working alongside Anne Moon...Her clinical background and my architectural background will complement each other, ensuring we provide our client with the best possible service and nothing gets lost in translation when consulting the clinical users.”
