It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of JASMaD co-founder Ivan Mercep. A ‘Living Legend’ and NZIA Gold Medallist, Ivan dedicated his career and passion to architecture, working well into his eighties to deliver such iconic projects as the recently completed Tūhoe Te Uru Tamatua building.

Ivan’s design leadership was responsible for cementing JASMaD’s and Jasmax’s future after winning the competition to design Te Papa Tongarewa: the Museum of New Zealand in 1988.

Ivan will be warmly remembered by all those who had the good fortune to know him and work with him. An inspirational leader, good friend and meticulous designer, Ivan’s influence upon New Zealand’s built landscape will continue to stand monument to his achievements, and serve as a legacy for designers of the future.

Our thoughts remain with friends and family at this time.
