Designed to reverse the perception of underpasses being venues for crime, Christchurch’s Harewood Underpass was the recipient of both the Commercial Exterior Award (winner) and the Maestro Nightingale Award at this year’s Resene Colour Awards.

The success at last night’s awards follows a series of acknowledgements for the project, as it’s been awarded for its forward-thinking, innovative and community-focused design in the NZILA, Sustainable Concrete and Interior Award programmes, and is a named-finalist in the 2017 Best Awards.

The design and construction of the Harewood Underpass was a collaboration by MacDow JV (joint venture between McConnell Dowell and Downer) on behalf of NZTA, with AECOM.

Congratulations to the whole team for the on-going success of this vital piece of the city’s cycle infrastructure.
