Scott Base Redevelopment Receives Funding for Construction to Begin

We are delighted to share the news that the Scott Base Redevelopment in Antarctica has received $344 million in funding to proceed to construction in Budget 2021.

The scheme has been designed by Jasmax and Hugh Broughton Architects for Antarctica New Zealand. Other consultants working on the project include WSP (Civil and Structural Engineer), Steensen Varming (Services Engineer), The Building Intelligence Group (Design Manager) and Rawlinsons (Quantity Surveyor).

Located at the southern end of Ross Island in McMurdo Sound, the environment surrounding the base will be treated with utmost respect during construction. A Greenstar 5 rating is targeted for design and construction and Jasmax and HBA are leading the implementation of the Greenstar specifications and documentation. The new structures will be prefabricated in New Zealand by Leighs Construction and shipped to Antarctica for assembly.

Congratulations to Antarctica New Zealand, and all involved in this remarkable project.
