This week, Ara Institute of Canterbury's new Kahukura building (Engineering and Architectural Studies), currently under construction, opened its doors for a site visit by the NZ Institute of Architects and Institution of Professional Engineers NZ members. Construction began on the building in 2015 and is due for completion this winter.

Kahukura is a flagship development in the Institute's Campus Masterplan. The design will provide Ara with future focused learning facilities, including open, flexible learnings paces, a central learning terrace incorporating informal meeting spaces, public exhibition space for student work and sophisticated sustainable design features.

A number of the Jasmax team working on the project are Ara graduates and have worked with the client to develop a sustainable, and attractive environment, that will inspire a new generation of students, and prepare them to excel in the construction industry.
