Andy Anderson

“Today, the best experts in architectural practices are people with multiple talents. I’m a great believer in letting the best professionals do the job, doing it in half the time and twice as good. Having the right skills around me at Jasmax is essential. You simply have to surround yourself with people who are smarter than you.”

Andy Anderson is a venerated leader in the architectural profession, with over 30 years' of broad design and building experience not only locally but also internationally.

He currently leads the Commercial studio within the Jasmax Auckland office. He provides clients with direct, down-to-earth advice, and motivates his teams through listening, collaboration and rapport. Andy’s readiness to consider all issues enables him to create strong and lasting relationships with clients, an attitude he credits to his experience of working in the Pacific and USA.

Andy has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the aviation industry having worked across a wide range of aviation projects specifically for Auckland Airport. These projects bring a specialisation to which Andy also applies his wider retail and commercial experience to provide memorable passenger experiences.

Always looking to deliver more, Andy is immediate past Commodore of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. As Commodore, he implemented a new strategy and vision for the organisation. An accomplished blue water sailor, he is currently President of the International Council of Yacht Clubs, where he is bringing together individuals and clubs who share a passion for the sea.

Andy is a strategic thinker with an aptitude for detail in execution. “What really interests me is our ability as architects to be advisor to an industry, an entity or a corporation. As an architect, we have the ability to really influence the built environment, which in turn enriches people’s lives and well-being through city and place making."
