Designed for a mobile workforce
A new gateway to Auckland’s Wynyard Quarter, Fonterra’s global headquarters incorporated five different sites into ‘one Fonterra’ – a seven storey office development accommodating 1,400 staff. Evoking the business framework of ‘Our Place, Our People and Our Ambition’, an ‘activity-based-working’ approach supported increased staff mobility and fostered a flexible and collaborative work environment. The open plan layout future proofs the building, providing a long-life-loose fit, adaptable investment.
Designed to maximise efficiency, the building has a 5 Green Star base build design rating and a 6 Green Star interior design rating. The energy efficient thermal envelope and building services design includes an all-electric heating system to reduce carbon emissions, a water conservation system using rainwater harvesting and solar hot water heating. In addition, two simple and efficient floorplates connect a central atrium offering a remarkable 99% Net Lettable Area (NLA) to Gross Floor Area (GFA) ratio.
