Launch Bay, in Auckland’s Hobsonville Point, is a visionary development which will transform a historic military base into a new residential precinct. Only 20 minutes from downtown Auckland, the overarching masterplan for the new suburb is an exceptional architectural statement delivering 4,500 new dwellings, including affordable housing, for 10,000 people.
Operating an innovative model, 185 hectares of peninsula land has been split into precincts, which have then been divided into ‘super lots’. These ‘super lots’ have been appointed to a collection of leading New Zealand architects Jasmax, Studio Pacific, Athfield Architects and Monk Mackenzie, each commissioned to design a distinctive apartment package to sit alongside the restored heritage and historic officer’s buildings.
Jasmax is responsible for Launch Road East, the ‘super lot’ closest to the ferry landing and food and beverage hub. Cohesive and colourful, the Jasmax residential team has delivered a design for 101 new apartments over a landmark 16-storey apartment tower and two additional apartment buildings. Seven and five storeys each, these buildings offer a mix of one to three bedroom living options, maximising solar gain and sweeping waterfront or city views. Catering to the client’s emphasis on liveability, the Jasmax ‘super lot’ will deliver substantial open green space; a community front porch and back yard for residents and visitors.
This watershed residential development is in ground work stage.
