Known as ‘Waikoukou’, the new Transpower office at 22 Boulcott Street is a dynamic and exciting space designed support Transpower’s move to new ways of working.
Jasmax were commissioned to provide Workplace Strategy and Interior Design services for this large scale project over five levels. The team worked closely with Transpower to bring 700 staff from different sites into one highly collaborative and connected environment. The result is an energised fitout supporting an agile workplace.
Originally two separate buildings, 22 Boulcott is linked together around a six-storey atrium. The principle of connectivity was actively embraced as the overall design concept driver with centralised collaboration spaces sitting around a strategically located social hub at the atrium on each floor. The central staircase serves as a dynamic physical connector for the entire building. The design features large open floorplates promoting connection and visibility, generous provision of a variety of diverse workspaces, informal and collaborative spaces all to provide for an agile working environment and to maximise flexibility.
The vibrant colours on each floor serve as a wayfinding device to staff as well as a reminder of the intrinsic link between Transpower’s everyday operations, its people and the land.
On moving in, 90% of the staff used unassigned desking above the initial target of 20% flexible and 80% fixed desking.
This project is currently pursuing 5 star Green Star accreditation.
