2 Marston Street

Completion date

As the new creative home for Jasmax, the redevelopment of Number 2 Marston Street was a project very close to our hearts. Architecturally, it involved a new extension to a tired 60s warehouse. From an internal viewpoint, the move presented an opportunity for Jasmax to revaluate the way it practices and engages with staff. The aim was to provide a working environment that is supportive, energetic, collaborative, sustainable and unique.

The Jasmax Workplace Strategy team developed a programme of engagement to actively obtain feedback and advice on all aspects of the studio environment.

The outcome of this engagement resulted in both pragmatic and aspirational advice from staff, which essentially formed the brief for the project team as they moved forward.

The resulting design increases the level of visibility clients and visitors have of the practice. From the theatre and experience of arrival and welcoming; through to the transparency of the internal environment. The move to a larger more singular floor plate allows for greater efficiency and increased amenity as well as providing a more cohesive and collaborative environment for staff to engage and interact across all disciplines and project stages.

Ultimately this project provides Jasmax with a physical representation of everything we hold dear - openness, collaboration, and sustainability.
