Jasmax were commissioned by the Auckland Regional Transport Authority(ARTA) to provide architectural, urban design and landscape services for a number of Auckland regional rail station upgrade projects over a five year period.
The project began with the 'ARTNL Rail Station & Environs Concept Design Report'. This project developed concept designs for three "generic"station types, along with the preliminary designs for a number of specified stations.
The process involved considerable research into best practice station design and station design standards, which were used to develop a series of modular station ‘common elements’ that have been used on all subsequent rail station upgrades.
The design development focused on producing station concepts that were safe, functional, cost-effective, easy to maintain and operationally efficient.
Since then Jasmax has completed approximately sixteen stations and completed the concept design for numerous others. The stations have ranged inscale and complexity from simple ‘local’ stations to complex ‘Transport Orientated Developments’ (TOD), such as the Mt Albert TOD, aimed at regenerating town centres.
