The Westpac headquarters sit at the centre of The Terrace, Christchurch’s newest mixed-use development. Occupying four floors, with base build and fit out designed by Jasmax, Westpac aspired to create an environment that was inspiring, creative, smart, collaborative and flexible.
The Terrace’s overall design vision was to transcend the world of office parks and urban malls to create a home and heart for the city, a place for people to come together that fosters excellence and encourages visitors to return again and again.
The fitout is designed to be nimble, flexible, future-focused and connected, in line with Westpac’s workplace strategy and desire to offer its people a next-generation working environment. Integration of technology is influencing interior designers industry-wide in their approach to the finished concept and output. For Westpac, their 24/7 lobby incorporates smart ATMs and cash exchange, and iPad kiosks, as they look to how their business offers it services in the future.
Sustainability is also a core value for Westpac; natural materials have been selected in both the base build and fit out that have relevance to this. Within the fitout, sustainable design features include movement sensors instead of light switches, rubber flooring manufactured from recycled car tyres, and hand dryers that are powered the by the solar panels of the roof.
